Negro League Baseballers Have Their Day

Sometimes, you just come across a story that makes you feel good. Check out this article on the Yahoo! Sports page.

I confess, I don't know much about baseball. But that doesn't matter with a story like this. Emilio “Millito” Navarro (age 103), Joe B. Scott (age 87), Neale “Bobo” Henderson (age 78), along with 27 other aging Negro League baseball players, have finally been included in a Major League draft. After all these years, these athletes are being acknowledged for their talent and given a place on the Major League roster.

It reminded me of just how far we've come as a country. Is everything perfect? Nope. But we're getting a little closer to the day when a person will be judged solely on merit rather than race, gender, or any other superficial identifier.
